Care instructions for silver jewelry

act925 uses genuine silver – 925 – also known as sterling silver. It contains 92.5% silver, with the remainder being an alloy of other metals to create good quality and the right hardness of the silver.

Please store your jewelry in the accompanying jewelry box when not in use. Wipe your jewelry with a silver polishing cloth after each use to remove dirt, makeup, skin oils, pollutants, and other airborne particles. If you want to avoid unnecessary wear and tear on your jewelry, you can take it off during bathing, dishwashing, gardening, etc. You should also avoid sleeping with your jewelry on, as it will be exposed to wear. No metal does well in salt or chlorinated water, so it's good to remember this during summer swims or when in a swimming pool.

When you clean your jewelry regularly, it will maintain its shine longer. Store your jewelry in a dry place, not in your bathroom.

Silver can tarnish, i.e., oxidize, which is partly due to minerals and salts we excrete, as well as what’s in the air. You can clean your silver in several ways:

  1. The eco-friendly "homemade" method using baking soda:
Take a plastic bowl and line the sides and bottom with aluminum foil. Add a few tablespoons of baking soda, place your silver jewelry in the bowl, and pour boiling water over it. A chemical reaction will occur. Let the jewelry sit for a while until the oxidation has transferred to the foil instead of your jewelry. Carefully remove the jewelry with a wooden fork (it will be hot), rinse thoroughly, and dry. Then, polish gently with a silver polishing cloth.

  2. Polish with a silver polishing cloth:
This is the easiest method to keep your silver shiny.

  3. Dip in silver dip solution:
Dip your jewelry in a silver dip, rinse thoroughly, dry it, and then polish lightly with a silver polishing cloth.

Silver polishing cloths and silver dips can be found at specialized retailers.
